How to Choose the Right Desk
Check Desk Width
Measure your available space before buying. The Haven offers a 42-inch width, which fits most home offices. The Esther lists a 46-inch length but has a 22-inch width in its specs, which is unusual. The Landon provides 36 inches of width. Ensure the width matches your monitor and keyboard needs. A wider surface allows for more equipment. Narrower desks save floor space. Compare these dimensions to your room layout. Do not assume length equals width. Check the specific width spec for each model to avoid fit issues.
Verify Storage Needs
Decide if you need built-in drawers. The Haven and Esther both include two drawers for storage. This is useful for keeping documents and supplies organized. The Landon has no drawers, providing a clear surface instead. If you value a clutter-free workspace, skip the drawers. If you need storage, choose the Haven or Esther. The drawers add weight and bulk. Ensure the desk type matches your organization style. Fixed-height desks like these do not adjust. Storage is built-in and static. Choose based on your filing needs.
Assess Desk Height
Standard desks are often 30 inches high. The Haven and Esther are both 30 inches tall. This height suits most users with standard chairs. The Landon is taller at 41 inches. This unusual height may not work with standard office chairs. Check your chair height relative to the desk. A mismatch can cause discomfort. The 30-inch height is a safe choice for general use. The 41-inch height is specific. Verify your ergonomic setup before buying. Do not assume all desks are the same height. Compare the height spec carefully.
Consider Material Quality
Wood desks offer durability and a classic look. The Haven uses a pine base, weighing 35 pounds. The Esther uses rubberwood construction. Both materials are solid wood. The Landon is also made of wood. Pine and rubberwood provide sturdy surfaces. Heavier desks like the Landon at 44 pounds may feel more stable. Lighter desks are easier to move. Material affects longevity and appearance. Choose wood for a traditional office aesthetic. Avoid particleboard if you want durability. Check the material spec for each model.
Plan for Setup
These desks require assembly. The Haven weighs 35 pounds, making it manageable. The Esther weighs 38 pounds. The Landon is heaviest at 44 pounds. Heavier desks may need two people to move. Ensure you have space for assembly. The fixed-height design means no complex mechanisms. You just need to attach legs and drawers. Check the included hardware. Plan for a clear workspace during setup. The Landon’s height might make assembly trickier. Read the instructions before starting. Ensure you have the necessary tools ready for assembly.
